Prayer
As Jesus ascended into Heaven, he raised his hands and blessed the disciples. What did they do next? We might think the disciples were sad that Jesus was leaving, but they were full of joy! They went to the Temple to praise God. They did not know what would happen next, but they trusted Jesus. Jesus’ blessings can fill us with hope for whatever is next in our lives. Gather with your classmates to say this blessing prayer service.
Leader: Lord Jesus, you ascended from the earth into Heaven while your disciples watched. Your blessing comforted them and filled them with joy.
All: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. (Make the Sign of the Cross and take a moment to think of Jesus with you now.)
Leader: Lord Jesus, you promised your disciples the strength of the Holy Spirit. Your blessing empowers us. All: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. (Make the Sign of the Cross and think of Jesus with you in your most difficult or challenging moments.)
Leader: Lord Jesus, the disciples praised you in the Temple. We bless and praise you too.
All: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. (Make the Sign of the Cross and think of something in Creation you wish to praise God for.)
Leader: Lord Jesus, you
told the disciples they
would preach about God’s forgiveness to every nation. We think of all of your blessings to us, poured out and overflowing. We share your blessings with everyone. All: With your thumb, trace
the Sign of the Cross on the forehead of your classmates as you say the words: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
All: Lord Jesus, we praise and honor you. With great joy we look forward
to the day you will come again. We will continue to bless you all our days.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Pray
Lord, turn our minds and hearts toward Heaven. Give us a desire to live there someday with you. Amen.
Think
Sometimes the priest uses incense during Mass. How does it help you think about Heaven?
Act
Think about a helium balloon ascending in
the air. Imagine what it was like for the Apostles to watch Jesus go up to Heaven. At Mass, watch the flame on the Paschal candle. Notice how it lifts toward Heaven. Reflect on Jesus’ Ascension.
