Activities, Conversations, and Prayer for Sharing Faith at Home
(Each family member might also make a donation to add to the pot.) Also include toiletry items on your list (toothpaste, soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc.). As soon as possible, make a family trip to the food pantry to drop off the items.

What is our job in building up the Church? Whom can we care for with love? How can we follow Jesus as Saint Francis did?
Today’s Prayer
Saint Francis himself made up this prayer. Let us listen carefully and make it our own.

Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary (October 7)
Introduction
Today, we celebrate the Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary. The practice of praying the Rosary grew out of the monastic practice of praying the 150 psalms each week. Those who could not read the psalms were allowed to pray a Hail Mary for each one instead. These prayers were counted on beads, which have evolved into the five-decade chain of rosary beads that we use today. Turn to page 105 to read more about how to pray the Rosary.
Today’s Reading
Go to www.usccb.org/bible/readings for the text or an audio recording of the Scripture readings for the Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary.
Faith-Sharing Activity
There are instructions online for making rosaries from various materials, including knotted twine. Some families enjoy making rosaries for the military or for prisoners. (These must be black or brown.)
For a“refresher course”on praying the rosary, look online for“Rosary coloring pages.” There is a nice selection that can be printed. Choose one in which all five decades are pictured. You may want to ask the family to gather around the table and pray a decade of the Rosary while coloring the beads.
Save the coloring pages and “pray and color” another decade each week. Continue every few days until the entire page has been prayed and colored!
