     The Most Holy Trinity
On the feast of the Most Holy Trinity, we celebrate God. That sounds simple
enough, but in a deeper way, we celebrate who God is. This is where it gets complicated. God is one God in three Divine Persons. This is a central mystery of our faith— something that is revealed to us by God, but beyond our human understanding.
However, we can get glimpses of the Trinity in many ways. For instance, our loving, healthy relationships can help us experience the Holy Trinity as a loving, holy relationship of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
complicated this is?
You’re not alone. When Jesus revealed that he was the Son of God, it was difficult for the Apostles
to understand until the Holy Spirit came to them at Pentecost.
In fact, the Holy Trinity was not understood as a doctrine of belief in the Church until the fourth century, and only after many years of debate.
We use words
like “explain” and “understand,” but words aren’t enough to describe the mystery of the Holy Trinity. Still, they are a start.

Pray
Send your Holy Spirit to us, Lord, to help us know you and love you more deeply. Amen.
Think
In what ways can the Church help you learn about the truth?
Act
Play the game Two Truths and a Lie with your family. Each person will state three things about themself
(two are true, one you make up). See if you can figure out each other’s true statements. Consider how knowing each other well helps you figure out the truth.
Persons of the Trinity are not three different gods. Are you starting to see how
describe God as being beyond us, but we can also describe God as being among us, in the person of Jesus Christ. We can also speak of God being within us, especially when we recognize our gifts and talents as the work of
the Holy Spirit in each of
us. These are all ways we can begin to grasp the mystery of the Holy Trinity.
FAMILIES:
Read a reflection on this quote.
The Eucharist, therefore, while it unites us to Christ also opens us to others, makes us members of one another: we are no longer divided but one in him.
