        Laying on
of hands = Conferring the Holy Spirit
KEY WORDS AND ACTIONS:
The bishop imposes hands on the head of the ordinand, and in the prayer of consecration he asks God for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the gifts proper to the ministry to which
the candidate is being ordained.
FIND IT IN THE BIBLE
“So I exhort the presbyters among you, as a fellow presbyter and witness to the sufferings of Christ and one who
has a share in the glory to be revealed. Tend the flock of God in your midst, over-
seeing not by constraint but willingly, as God would have it, not for shameful profit but eagerly. Do not lord it over those assigned to you, but be examples to the flock.” – 1Peter 5:1-3 Also: Heb 5:1; 1 Tim 3:1; 2 Tim 1:6; Ti 1:7-9
THE GRACES GIVEN: * To be configured to Christ by a special grace of the Holy Spirit, to serve as Christ’s instrument for his Church in service to the faithful. * To act as a representative of Christ in one of the three degrees or ordination — as a bishop, priest, or deacon.

     MINISTER OF THE SACRAMENT: Bishop
THIS SACRAMENT CANNOT BE REPEATED.
 ANIMA CHRISTI
Soul of Christ, be my sanctification.
Body of Christ, be my salvation. Blood of Christ, fill all my veins. Water of Christ’s side, wash out
my stains.
Passion of Christ, my comfort be. O good Jesu, listen to me.
In thy wounds I fain to hide,
N’er to be parted from thy side, Guard me, should the foe
assail me.
Call me when my life shall fail me. Bid me come to thee above,
With thy saints to sing thy love, World without end. Amen.
MEMORARE
Remember, O most gracious Vir- gin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protec- tion, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly
unto thee, O Virgin of virgins my Mother. To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrow- ful. O Mother of the Word Incar- nate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer them. Amen.
THE ANGELUS
℣ The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary.
℟ And she conceived by the Holy Spirit. (Hail Mary...)
℣ Behold the handmaid of the Lord.
℟ Be it done unto me according to thy word. (Hail Mary...)
℣ And the Word was made flesh. ℟ And dwelt among us. (Hail
Mary...)
℣ Pray for us, O holy Mother of
God.
℟ That we may be made worthy of
the promises of Christ.
LET US PRAY: Pour forth, we beseech thee, O Lord, thy grace into our hearts; that we, to whom the Incarnation of Christ, thy Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by his Passion and Cross be brought
to the glory of his Resurrection. Through the same Christ, our Lord. Amen.
PRAYER TO SAINT MICHAEL, THE ARCHANGEL
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our pro- tection against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do thou, O Prince
of the Heavenly Host, by the Power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander the earth seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
