The entire journey of her life is a remarkable witness to faith. After finding out about her, John was deeply moved and inspired to write this song. He wanted “We Sing for Freedom” to be an anthem for freedom with a focus on human trafficking and modern-day slavery. This cause is extremely important and cannot be overlooked. The song also draws on Scripture: “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free” (Galatians 5:1).

Bayard stands resolutely against modern-day slavery and has created a video in consultation with CRS Catholic Relief Services to help draw attention to the issue. Catholic Relief Services was founded in 1943 by the Catholic Bishops of the United States to serve World War II survivors in Europe. Since then, they have expanded in size to reach more than 130 million people in more than 100 countries on five continents. Answering the Gospel’s call to care for those who are suffering, Catholic Relief Services is working to eradicate human trafficking with 145 projects worldwide.
