Catechist background
in the First book of chronicles (4:10) in the bible, we read about a man named Jabez. Jabez’s life has a lot to teach us about blessings. First of all, we nd that he is more honorable than his brothers. e bible does not tell us how he achieved this honor, but it does tell us that he prayed for blessing in his life. when he prayed and asked God to bless him, Jabez asked for three things: 1) for more land, 2) for God’s hand to be with him, and 3) for God to keep him from harm so he would have no pain. God heard Jabez’s prayer and granted his requests. From this man, we learn that no matter what is go- ing on in our lives, we can ask for God’s blessing to help us change. God is always with us, protecting us and blessing us with what we need. all we need to do is ask for God’s blessing!
