▪ Gather the students around you. ▪ read the story in Matthew and discuss
what the centurion meant.
▪ review what it means to receive Jesus in the eucharist.
▪ review the type of attitude we need to have when we receive Jesus.
▪ discuss each phrase of the prayer. ▪ ask the students if they have heard
this prayer before. if so, where? ▪ ask students to listen for this prayer
the next time they attend Mass. ▪ Pray the prayer together.
Prayer before communion bumper sticker activity
1 Give each child a bumper sticker template (page 43). ask each child to choose his or her fa- vorite phrase from the prayer that was discussed. have the child print the phrase on the bumper
sticker template and decorate it.
